Announcing a New Resource for Kinky Singles! - 06/13/2006 10:36 pm
Single and kinky and looking for safe connections? The Society of Janus announces the formation of a "Special Interest Group" (SIG) just for singles. Our purpose is to sponsor safe, fun events for kinky singles in the San Francisco Bay Area (including both Janus members and non-members*).
What do we mean by "single"? We'll adhere to a traditional definition of the word:
- Not in a relationship, but dating: YES, you're clearly single. - Seeking new friends, not ready to leap but open to a relationship: YES, open is good. - In a poly relationship, looking to add to my tribe: NO, no judgment here, but you're not really “single.” - In an "open" relationship: NO, ditto the above. - Married: Um…married and single are mutually exclusive by most people's standards.
Note that this organization and all of its events will be open to people of all orientations.
If this sounds like the kind of singles group you'd like to be a part of, we invite you to a one-time-only organizing event on August 1. The meeting will be open to Janus members and non-members. We'll have fun, discuss ideas, and see who’s interested in helping organize and run some great events. Here are some of the ideas we've already collected:
Ongoing - "Munch-mobile" tours of Bay Area munches - "Tour the dungeon" events (local and not-so-local dungeons) - Field trips to local kink events - Class trips to local BDSM-related classes - Group trips to the movies - Kinky movie nights in members' homes
Periodic - Kinky Speed Dating - Singles Socials in private homes - Play-optional camp outs - A "Truly Single" singles play party - Pre-event mixers before Spring Party, Folsom Fringe, other major events - Barbeques and picnics - Hosted tours of San Francisco's leather district
What would YOU like to do? We welcome your ideas. Remember, there's no better, safer way to meet kinky people than to help out at kinky events! Here's your chance to get started. Join us on August 1!
