Contacting the members of your association... - 12/11/2007 12:26 pm Is there a way for the Owner to contact all of the members of his or her association. Like if there is a special something going on in the asso that everyone should check out?

Re:Contacting the members of your association... - 12/11/2007 5:12 pm This is a great idea that we cannot to today, but I will add it to the list of future features.

Re:Contacting the members of your association... - 12/11/2007 10:19 pm Excellent.

I'd use a feature like that for sure.

Re:Contacting the members of your association... - 12/12/2007 7:03 am I am thinking that we should also add a setting for members to "not receive mass Private Messages from Association Owners and Moderators."

Some people will see this as Spam, and we should let them opt out.

Re:Contacting the members of your association... - 12/12/2007 8:50 am Yeah... something which would allow a moderator / owner to mass mail the members of an association to make special announcements (like, HEY WE NEED TO ELECT A NEW MODERATOR ... or I'M THINKING OF DELETING THIS ASSOCIATION 'CUZ IT'S BEEN IDLE FOR A YEAR) ...that's something which should go out to *all* members and not be something which members can opt out of.

Re:Contacting the members of your association... - 12/12/2007 5:36 pm I hate spam, but if I am a member of an asso, I want to be there and know what's going on. I dont think they should opt out. If an owner miss uses the PM all feature, someone can report it and the matter can be taken care of that way.

I agree with you, but some on the site won't. The opt-out feature is one we've added to the site wide e-mailings, and one that people have been really happy is there, whether they choose to use it or not.

Choices are good.

From personal experience, I would want an opt-out option, either per association or site-wide. I'm a member of a yahoo group and have my settings to read the group online only. However, the owner frequently sends out emails that I don't really care to see. While not the end of the world, it is annoying.

Re:Contacting the members of your association... - 12/13/2007 5:22 pm I understand both of your points. Choices are good, I agree. I wasn't thinking of others. I was only thinking from a asso owners pov. Thanks!

Ditto. I'd like as much control over my experience as possible.

Re:Contacting the members of your association... - 01/25/2008 7:37 am I have this mostly written, and it will probably go in tonight.

There will be a new option under "member settings" for each association that lets you turn off bulk PMs from that association.

In addition, the following message will be at the bottom of the PMs that go out:

You are receiving this message becasue you are are member of the xxxxxx association.
Click here to not receive future messages from this association

Clicking on the link will take you to the "member settings" screen for that association.

Any suggestions?
I'm not totally happy with the wording, but I think some sort of message makes sense, so people know why they are getting the PM and how to stop future ones if they desire.

Re:Contacting the members of your association... - 01/25/2008 7:30 pm This is in now.

Look for the link under "Owner Actions" for associations you own.
