Racism and White Privilege - 11/01/2006 4:13 am One of the many roots of the recent protests is the frustration that students of color felt over racism and the lack of role models of people of color. Deaf/deaf/HOH/and deaf-blind people of color tend to be underpresented among teachers and administrators at most schools for deaf students, including at Gallaudet.

This discussion thread is for discussion related to racism and white privilege within the Deaf/deaf/hard of hearing/deaf-blind communities, particularly at Gallaudet University.

Racism and white privilege are large, complex subjects. We might want to open more discussion threads later on to focus on more tightly focused subtopics. But this is just to get the ball rolling.

Remember that this discussion board is meant to be welcoming of people on ALL sides of the protests (for, against, ambivalent). Please demonstrate respect to those who may feel differently than you do toward the protests.
